FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do you print copies of your issues?
Not at this time, but we hope to in the near future. However, we do offer PDF versions of our issues, which you can purchase here!
Do you pay your writers?
We are unable to compensate our writers at this time, but we hope to in the future.
Do you accept creative nonfiction, artwork, or photography?
We have accepted all of these genres in the past, but due to low submission numbers, we no longer accept creative nonfiction or any sort of visual art, including photography. For now, we only publish poetry and fiction; however, this may change in the future.
Can I submit a piece that has been published elsewhere?
In order to give our writers as much exposure as possible, we ask that you not submit anything that has been previously published, either online or in print. However, simultaneous submissions are allowed; we just ask that you withdraw your piece via Submittable if it is accepted elsewhere.
Can I submit multiple pieces at once?
It depends on what you're submitting. We only accept one fiction submission per person, but we accept up to five poetry submissions (in one file) per person. Read our full requirements here.
How can I support The Raven Review?
Thanks so much! Spreading the word about our magazine helps us out a lot, and you are also welcome to follow us on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. If you'd like to support us monetarily, you can do so by donating to our Ko-fi page.
Where does your name come from?
While The Raven Review has a nice, alliterative ring to it, the main inspiration for our name came from the Gothic poem, “The Raven,” written by Edgar Allan Poe. We feel that this poem embodies the same deep, dark elements that we are going for with our publication. You can read the full poem here.
