Tall Asters

by Kenneth Pobo

Our tall asters bloom deep into the fall,
sharp blue petals fading in November.
I wish that insistent winter won’t call.
Our tall asters bloom deep into the fall.
Today I hear an early snowflake’s small
cry and zip up my coat as I shiver.
Our tall asters bloom deep into the fall,
sharp blue petals fading in November.

Kenneth Pobo has a new book of poems out called At The Window, Silence (Fernwood, 2025). His work has appeared in North Dakota Quarterly, Mudfish, Caesura, and elsewhere.
