The Temptress

by Jim Bochenek

Strutting into your life like a malefactor
repping the fierceness of black
the jacket, the jeans, the boots
a smile that grips and attracts
an outlaw on the attack

as cool as a hostage negotiator
as devious as Hannibal Lecter
frightened to discover and learn
of what she is a protector
and of what she is a collector

unsure of what you’re feeling
she’ll be happy to give you a shove
be careful what you wish for
she doesn’t know the meaning of love
she’s what your worst nightmares are made of.

Jim Bochenek began a second career in photography after years in the event business, but writing continued to be a passion and has now become his focus. Through his poetry, he hopes to share stories of emotion, love and relationships, and all the stages of each. Bochenek has a degree in English from Arizona State University and has had one short story and one poem published.
