You Are What You Eat

by Nina Fillari

On Mondays and Thursdays, I am nothing.
On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, I am
stomach acid churning and chewed cigarettes
from the dead skin cells of throat gags.
Saturdays start with a heavy breakfast of therapy—
of things I don’t even want to be.
They end with a spoonful of liquid IV
and vegetables seasoned with maturity.
On Holy Sundays, I am pulpless
orange juice waiting for next spring.
