Grim Grinning Taxi Service
by Eileen Porzuczek
grim grinning reaper cloaks glide
over crisp dewy grass blades--
they come to collect you, best abide.
get in the taxi now, no time for charades.
a touch of one boney finger and poof,
you’re drifting through time and space.
is this real or just a spoof?
you’ll never get out till you own the disgrace.
this journey is long, not for delicate hearts--
the hottest fire hasn’t even burnt your flesh.
now here your grim grinning host departs,
leaving you in Hades Garden—fresh.
maybe if you reason he will spare you,
or maybe this is the end you always knew.
