Dancing Girl
by Jackie Chou
I look human in every way
Ebony hair, silver evening gown
reflect the rotating mirror ball
I feel human to the touch
My hand, which you take
soft flesh and warm blood
My black lashes cast shadows
over distant brown eyes
My feet shuffle mechanically
to the familiar beats
A ghost silhouette
shifting and turning
upon the wooden dance floor
Ebony hair, silver evening gown
reflect the rotating mirror ball
I feel human to the touch
My hand, which you take
soft flesh and warm blood
My black lashes cast shadows
over distant brown eyes
My feet shuffle mechanically
to the familiar beats
A ghost silhouette
shifting and turning
upon the wooden dance floor
