Glasses Raised High
by Kevin Knight
Let's raise our glasses
as we toast to trauma.
You test me daily,
but I fight you.
I hear you back there,
don't you worry your sweet little head.
Deep in the crevice of my mind.
I think you love me,
that’s why you hug my thoughts
and refuse to loosen your grip on my reality.
Its ok though,
I love you too.
You make me stronger.
Don't mind the crying,
it’s part of the process.
I promise I'm ok,
and that it’s working.
The process that is,
not your perseverance.
Though I do admire your determination.
Anyways,
cheers to our good times.
I'm glad you could make it.
Tonight, and every other night
you keep me company.
But feel free to leave anytime.
Trust me,
no one's forcing you to stay.
¡Salud!
