Kindness Costs Nothing

by Linda Crate
all of our sins
stand in our way
all of this blood
on our hands

i cannot endure
to see all the trauma
and destruction
in this world,

and i pray for healing;
i pray for peace
want something more than
nightmares

dancing down the streets
i want people to remember the
dreaming as i was able
to--

i want everyone to realize
that people matter
regardless of who they are
no matter what

we all bleed the same,
must we argue over things that
don’t have any bearing or importance?
there are things that matter more--

we need to save the planet,
and we need to save one another;
we are all human
and we are all connected

it is time that we remember
to treat one another
with respect
because kindness costs nothing.
