Receiving the Message
by Lorraine Caputo
Several dark hours
before the dawn
I awoke from light dreams
& stood sheltered beneath
the arcade, watching
the quiet rain intensify
& I knew a change
had come
In the weak illumination
I received word
of her passing
several hours before
The rain-soaked lines
snapped, fizzed together
time & again
As I sent my thanks, my thoughts
my Light across the
many miles between my exile
& her family ....
