Scarcity
by John L. Stanizzi
The pacific hiss of morning rain,
sun held down under clouds and fog,
and the rooms of the house soften with dusky shadows.
May it rain all day long, and never brighten, not even for a moment.
May the plants lift their faces,
streaked with dusty rainwater,
and like children running around the yard,
catch the drops in their open, smiling mouths
sun held down under clouds and fog,
and the rooms of the house soften with dusky shadows.
May it rain all day long, and never brighten, not even for a moment.
May the plants lift their faces,
streaked with dusty rainwater,
and like children running around the yard,
catch the drops in their open, smiling mouths
